DP Sonics is a sole proprietorship that specializes in audio production for the independent artist. This is a one man operation, not a faceless website where your music is pumped through cookie cutter processing by an intern or a computer program. If you do business with DP Sonics, you are working with me, Daniel Porter, and it is my personal goal to preserve musicality while making your recordings sound as competitive as possible.
The Indianapolis area is my current theater of operations. For those of you who also live in this urban wonderland, I make house calls.
LOCAL SERVICES
- Audio/music production training
- Mobile 8 channel recording
- Live sound setup and operation
The rates for these services are purely negotiable depending on the type of work and its location. Contact me via email to discuss the particulars of your audio needs.

I graduated cum laude from Ball State University with a Bachelor of Music. My degree had a multifaceted emphasis in music technology, composition, and percussion performance. While studying, I worked for the recording company attached to the Ball State College of Music. In this position, I was responsible for the recording, mastering, distribution, and archiving of the college's concerts and recitals. During the summers, I was employed by the Interlochen Center for the Arts as the lead audio technician. At Interlochen, I was responsible for the setup and operation of live sound equipment in all of the center's performance venues. Upon graduation, I worked as the senior audio associate for the Banff Centre for the Arts Recording Studios. At Banff, I was responsible for the engineering of in-house and commercial projects. This entailed recording, editing, mixing, and mastering studio and live concert sessions, as well as pre and post production for Banff Centre video projects. Currently, I live and work in Chicago as a freelance audio engineer, film score composer, and musician.
